Mainly b/c it feels as though no one has ever heard of my school. Trinity College? Does that ring any bells for anyone? Argh. No, it's not the one in texas.

I've heard of Trinity in CT, and I think there's one in DC also?

But honestly, if the school is a match otherwise, why put yourself through the stress of transferring just for a brend name school?

That's my entire issue. I like Trinity (CT). I feel as though I'm challenged. It boils down to the brand name. And mainly that I have the ability to transfer upwards if I do so choose.

I'm sure that many other people on this board have the same fear that I do, namely: If I don't transfer to HPYC etc etc while I have the chance, will I regret it for the rest of my life?

I guess that's a personal question, but you could just as easily regret going to a school that wasn't a good fit for the sake of wearing their sweatshirt. And there's always grad school.

I really couldn't have said it better. If Trinity (and I have heard of it BTW) is a good fit why risk going to a college that might not be a good fit? Grad schools have heard of Trinity and that's all that really matters. So Sue in your hometown has a dunce look when you say you go to Trinity. So what? If you're having a good time and being challenged, just stay.

If you are planning on going into a career that requires graduate work, employers really aren't going to care much where you did your undergrad. A kid that wants to be a lawyer and does his undergrad at Larry James University and gets into Yale law school is probably going to do a zillion times better employment wise than the kid who went to Yale for UG and went on to get his J.D. at the Larry James school of law. If you are planning on going to grad school and you are going to a total TTT, transfering might help your chances however Trinity is no TTT. According to USNews, (a highly questionable source) Trinity (CT) is a better LAC than Barnard, an IVY LEAGUE LAC!

Barnard's not in the Ivy League...

That's why I hate USNEWS. Barnard has a better rep than Trinity (although Trinity isn't bad at all).

Trinity College In ireland is one of the best collegs in the world.

But the truth is, the college name means nothing./

Barnard is affiliated with Columbia. That makes it a de facto ivy in my book.

heh, USNEWS also says that WUSTL is better than Cornell and Berkeley (one of the reasons I mentioned it as a highly questionable source). The rankings overall do mean something. There aren't any great schools hiding out in the third and fourth tiers that are just super underrated. If USNEWS says a school is t50, it's probably decent.

It's actually one of the Seven Sisters, which were the female Ivies back in the days before co-education, but yeah, not an Ivy itself (although still a very good school).
