So I just went through the writing workbook and I though it helped... except in improving sentences TT_TT.
My identifying sentence errors is now perfect or near perfect but i have a huge problem with improving sentences. I got eight wrong out of 49 and 7 out of the eight wrong were improving sentences. What's the best way for me to improve improving sentences (lol) ?

Study grammar rules and practice practice practice. I am at the point where I can just read through a sentence and check about 10 different possible errors in real-time.

ahhh ok, so going through the grammar rules in the workbook once isn't enough?
i should go it over more than once then?

EDIT: one more thing. where is the best place to get these practice exercises?

hey, i got another question but didnt wanna make another thread jut to ask it

im taking the sats on october 6th... how much hours per day should i be studying if i want to get 2100++?

currently i am at 1900
Math: 710
WR: 620
CR: 560

I'd recommend posting the ones you get wrong on here, so people can elaborate on any rules your unsure of, give you pointers, etc.

30 min./day could probably get you
M: 710---> 770
WR: 620 --> 700
CR: 560 --> 630
...try the College Board's SAT Question of the Day also

I am going for a 2300+ and spend about 1 hour a day studying. That will increase to about 3 hours a day once the date approaches.

ahh ok thanks
yea im doing the sat question of the day and im like 18/20 or so so its all good :D

I kind of think that with the writing section, practise alone can improve your score. Before I started actually studying for the SAT, I did the Question of the Day very often, and I was terrible on the writing section. However, after a few months, I found that I could spot the errors in the sentences automatically, and without even thinking of grammar rules. After a while, you can easily tell what doesn't sound right with a sentence.

I got an 800 on writing...I used to study grammar from TOEFL books when I was in 6th grade and so had a fairly sound base for grammar. Then, in order to get to "American level" SAT grammar, which isn't as stringent as toefl but tests sense also in a way, I prepped using GMAT grammar books

Go to a store and buy a good grammar book. Know grammar rules like the back of your hand. Become a Grammar God!!

Seriously, in my english class my teacher spent a month everyday going over grammar and drilling us from our grammar books. No joke I took a diagnostic test and my writing score went up 150 points from just that month!
