Arguing Grades...

Hey, I just recently received two grades that I am very dismayed with. One was in a FWS, in which I was clearly a stronger writer than a majority of the students in class (in nearly everyone else's opinion), but the teacher had an issue with my writing style and disagreed with my supported views, clearly resulting in my lower grade (B+). I assume I have no chance to get that grade changed, but if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

My other class was previously an A+ class for the past 3 semesters, yet I received an A- in the class. I did significantly better than the average student in the class, judging by grades. Even if he decided to change his grading strategy for the semester, I still believe there is a massive error in my section grade, which was 25% of the grade. What is the best way to approach this? Does the professor go through a huge ordeal to change a final grade, or is it a simple task? What if he refuses to change the grade, and I know that the numbers say I should have gotten higher? Thanks.

It is not a big ordeal for a professor to change a grade, it happened to my daughter. In her case there was a legitmate reason for changing the grade - she knew what she got on her tests and papers, when calculating her final grade it was different than what the professor have given her. She had a very nice email exchange with her professor and it was taken care of right away.

In your case, you need to find out what you got in your section grade to make sure it’s correct. If it’s correct, then you really have no ground to ask your professor to change your grade. It’s really not that hard to calculate a final grade. I don’t understand why your calculation should be that different than your professor’s.

As far as your professor not liking your writing style, you should have changed your style before you got your final grade.
