Does anyone know anything about auditions at the Arizona Jazz Showcase? Are they the same as their regular auditions? Planning on attending the showcase, but is it better to audition at a regular audition time with fewer people? Not really wanting to fly there twice, but are the chances of getting accepted better when there are fewer people?

DD is auditioning at the Jazz weekend. It will be crazy but hard to tell if it will make a difference or not. Post here if you find out anything else. I did say only seniors can audition. We are still debating the September audition but at this point we are sticking with the jazz weekend. If we find out anything else we will post, and please do the same.

My DD is a sophmore dance major at UofA. She auditioned 2 years ago (can’t believe it’s been that long) at the September audition. It was quite crowded (100-125 auditioners). I can’t image that the AJDS audition class would be larger than that. From what I have heard, it doesn’t matter whether you audition at AJDS or the standard audition…everyone gets the same chance.

34ballet- Where all 100 some dancers in one space or where they broken up into groups? How does your DD like the dance program? the university?
Thanks

All dancers were in one very large beautiful studio. But, they performed combinations in groups. DD loves the program and the university. It’s a very competitive program, but that’s what she likes.

Thanks 34ballet. We are looking forward to AJDS and DD doing her first audition. I’ll post how it goes when we get back.
