Arizona State University / Barrett Honors. NHRP automatic admit?

I’ve read in past year’s posts that admission to Barrett Honors at ASU is automatic for both national merit scholars and national hispanic recognition scholars once you’ve been accepted to ASU and applied to Barrett. Does anyone know if this is still true for fall 2017?

According the ASU Barrett Website::::::

High school seniors who have been named a National Merit Finalist or National Hispanic Scholar receive unique merit scholarships at Arizona State University. Though these awards are granted through the ASU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services (not through Barrett), there are currently more than 700 National Scholars who have chosen to attend ASU and also pursue the personalized experience of Barrett, The Honors College. Graduates of Barrett continue onto some of the best medical and dental schools, law schools, graduate programs, and employment opportunities following the completion of their degrees.

Prospective students should apply to Barrett, The Honors College, once they have submitted an application to Arizona State University and received their ASURITE ID and password. Beginning in early October, National Merit Semi-Finalists, National Merit Finalists, and National Hispanic Scholars will receive an expedited review of their Barrett application, receiving a decision within 2-3 weeks of their application being complete. We encourage National Scholars to apply to Barrett as soon as possible.

No where does it state this is automatic admission to Barrett, just expedited application review.
Google is your friend.

Thank you, I read that too. :slight_smile: My question is that in the past, some people have posted on the College Confidential forum that it was automatic, just not written on the ASU website. I’m curious if that’s still true for 2017

Since the information posted on the ASU website states that there is an expedited review, you can assume it is no longer automatic. If you want an definitive answer, email or call. Also College Confidential information is not gospel, so you should always confirm information given on this site.
