ASU lets almost anyone with a pulse in. It isn’t known for being a particularly rigorous school, but I imagine you can make whatever you like out of it and work harder if you want to.

The Honors college is far more prestigious and demanding.

ASU in Tempe has one of the craziest party scenes anywhere. A Saturday night there is completely packed with intoxicated students convoluted in debauchery and fornication.
As for academics… I would venture to guess that not many students are choosing ASU purely for academic reasons.

lol. This is the school that couldn’t be convinced that Barack Obama—one of only 44 people in the history of the planet ever to have been elected President of the United States and the first and only African-American ever to have held that distinction, elected United States senator from our fifth-largest state (and only the second African-American to have achieved that honor), 3-term state senator from the Hyde Park neighborhood in Chicago (home to the uber-intellectual University of Chicago), senior lecturer in law at one of the nation’s premier law schools, distinguished civic activist, highly regarded civil rights lawyer, graduate of Harvard Law School (magna cum laude) and Columbia College, President of the Harvard Law Review (and the first minority ever to have held that position)—had accomplished enough in life to be awarded an honorary degree from ASU. Apparently the standards for an honorary degree at ASU are far higher than the standards for a real degree from ASU. Absurdity, thy name is ASU.

It depends what you’re majoring in. For Journalism, ASU is a great choice. For Business, it’s also quite good. And the Barretts Honors College is quite prestigious.

I live in Arizona and my brother’s girlfriend goes to ASU currently while he goes to UofA. In all honesty, it isn’t too bad of a party school. In fact, I believe playboy ranked UofA higher than ASU in party schools for this year. ASU hit like 15th or something, and UofA was like 8?

The honors college at ASU is fairly prestigious, but probably too difficult for you to get into. Then, both the journalism school and business school’s are quite good and rank far up there. The only downside is that they can be difficult to get into your freshman year, so that is always something to think about. The classes aren’t that bad for each journalism/business, it is just so renowned due to it’s internships provided via the programs.

Overall, I’d say it’s a good school. The 95% acceptance rate may fool some, but if you like to have fun, but can also concentrate on classes, you can do good at ASU.
Have fun!

nope, actually a lot of companies around phoenix hire a lottt of asu graduates, such as intel etc. i guess that research can be true depends on major and your grade. But if you have good grades and work hard in asu then you will have no problems gettin jobs.

Also, playboy just ranked u of a #3 party school while asu was like #7 or 9. so i guess it is not that bad.

ASU is a good school. They are very strong in certain major. Phoenix is a growing business center in the Southwest. Many ASU graduates are going onto grad and professional schools and have very good careers. You cannot equate easy to get in with poor quality education. ASU’s Honors College, Barrett is well funded and highly respected in both the Academic and Professional circle. It really depends on how you will take advantage and make good use of the resources and opportunities there.

Actually intel is in like Tempe/Chandler area.
I am not sure which specific major (some sort of engineering), but my friend’s brother works in intel and he finished his undergrad and master in asu (like last year)… and i heard he is earning a lottt.

^ there’s no real difference between them. it is just that u of a application has essay included. Most people get into both with pretty much equal amount of schoarship. It is harder to get in Barrett
