I am hoping to find an authority on the state of ASU's NMF scholarships for future years. The ASU website is not specific. Past CC posts conflict. Any takers?

I know they have continued it for 2015s and if you are a finalist you get 13k. I cannot speak to future years. If you are truly interested I can give you the contact information of my personal ASU contact who works in admissions and you can call/email her. PM if interested.

No one can say what asu will offer to nmf applicants in future years. All we know what is being offered to current nmf applicants. Their nmf scholarship now offered is less than previous years.

If u accept a scholarship, it should not change for u if there are future changes.

ASU’s NMF scholarships are fixed value. They won’t go down after freshman year, but they won’t go up either - even if tuition does.

I will be posting an update on ASU in the main NMF thread. I’ll post a link here once it’s done.

EDIT: Look at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1065752122-post378.html

Thanks for the quick responses. So, if a student is OOS, 13,000 is the max? Can they stack other scholarships?

^^^

*A nonresident will be awarded the amount of nonresident tuition for the 2011-2012 year and will remain at the same amount for eight semesters. For example, this year’s out of state tuition is $20,257, however we anticipate that the amount will increase for the upcoming year. *

So, it looks like the award is for a set amount of oos tuition and they don’t increase the scholarship to cover future tuition increases.

I don’t know if there are other scholarships to stack on top or not.

I do know that the university is having money trouble which is why the NMF scholarships have gotten scaled back in recent years.

If you want more generous NMF scholarships, you need to consider other schools.

You can’t stack other ASU recruitment scholarships on top. You can stack outside scholarships. (Or, at least you have been able to do so in the past.)

thanks arabrab.

m3ck: thanks for he research. I came across that too. There is some conflicting info out there about NMF scholarships at ASU for future years. DS is in the process of building his list now. Of course, he doesn’t even know if he will be NMF or not…just checking out the “what ifs”. Though the CC list for NMF and schools that offer good merit aid are fantastic, seems that things will be really changing for the current junior class. Thanks again!

I would suggest calling the school directly. I have found them to be quite helpful in the past. Based on a conversation I had with someone from Barrett Honors College, I think the NMF scholarship is around $20k for out-of-state for the class of 2015. As a previous poster said, the amount quoted for the student’s freshman year stays the same for 8 semesters. It does not go up with tuition increases, nor does it go down.
