Let me preface by saying I posted in the ASU sub-forum, but since it does not get a lot of activity, I thought it would be better to post here since it is on a similar topic. I have Arizona residency if it matters.

I know that since ASU is a big state university it heavily depends on SAT/ACT scores + GPA for deciding scholarships. The three main scholarships I saw on ASU's website were President ($9000), Provost ($6000), and University ($3000). I wanted to see what type of scores I needed to get these scholarships, so if anyone received these or know the scores of anyone who has, or any other scholarship from ASU for that matter, please post your SAT/ACT score and GPA.

Daggoth, I notice there are not a lot of ASU responses on this board either. You can always call the admissions office and ask them your questions. They spend a lot of time and money trying to find students like you who they can recruit to their school with merit money. Imagine their delight when YOU call them first. Just go online and see who your regional rep is. If they do not assign regional reps, then just call the general admissions number and tell them you have some questions. Your demonstrated interest might end up getting you the merit offer you seek. Good luck.

I don't know if one data point will help you that much, Daggoth, but my son was awarded ASU's President's Scholarship ($9000) this past year. He had a 4.1 GPA (I think around a 3.8 unweighted?) and a 34 ACT score. He was also accepted into Barrett Honors College.

Daggoth -- Did you exceed on all 3 of your Arizona AIMS tests so you're also assured a minimum tuition waiver? That's worth over $5,000, but you can't combine it with merit money, so you have to choose between merit or tuition waiver. You CAN combine either one with private scholarships.

i got the president's scholarship from asu yesterday.I had a 28 on my ACT and a 4.0 weighted, 3.9, unweighted and i think ABOR gpa of 3.8. I dont know if this helps but they kept telling me i would get the provosts but the letter came in the mail and said presidents so im happy cuz its a little more

I heard yesterday that ASU is dropping the AIMS tuition waiver, so I feel sorry for all those kids who relied on that. On a positive note, though, if they exceeded on AIMS they might also have high GPAs and great test scores, enough to get scholarships.

I also heard that ASU is having severe budget cutbacks and some classes may have as many as 1,000 students. Hopefully Barrett won't be affected. Has anyone heard specifics about this?

Do schools like ASU have the right to retract their academic scholarships when they are cutting budgets?

Just an update to my earlier post....after some further research (as opposed to hearsay), it appears ASU has proposed cancelling their AIMS tuition waiver, but I don't believe it's approved yet. For those who need to know, I would contact ASU directly.
