ASU is a 4th tier college I believe, U of A is rated in the top 100 if you put any stake in US News, but both offer a solid education. The atmosphere is different with ASU being in a larger city with a walk to all the arts/ culture/ businesses. but along with that the campus is more concrete, not as much hiking/ outdoorsy type things. Tucson where U of A is is a beautiful city, large enough to find plenty to do but small enough to still be personalized, it has the feel of a smaller town. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides, even has it's own ski area (small) but can ski and swim in the same day. The college area is very pretty, very grassy with cute restraunts and shops along the mall area. If you are comparing the honors colleges that is a whole different story, ASU is trying to create a smaller liberal arts honors college within a larger university and does an amazing job mentoring students and with grad school placements. Students from their honors college do extremely well with med school placements. Feel free to ask any specific questions or send me an e-mail. Both my kids considered both schools, they are quite generous with merit for in-state and ASU is great for national merit, free tuition I believe. We also know tons of students at both schools and each college has their specialties. Hope that helps some.
