Arizona vs. ASU for business or PoliSci

<p>I was wondering which school would be better for these two majors, but more specifically business. I'd also be in the honors college at both schools, and I've heard ASU's is better but I'm not sure. Which would look better outside of Arizona. For jobs, is it basically what city do you like better, Phoenix or Tucson? Any ties in Southern California</p>

<p>I've heard they are about the same for merit money for OOS, but does anyone have experience with either school.</p>

<p>I would definitely say that ASU is better, Arizona is terrible for giving out financial aid but ASU isn't that much better. I'd say that life at both campuses are about the same. Phoenix is definitely a better city. In terms of academics, ASU is better but be warned, both are pretty impersonal. ASU also has a slightly better business school</p>

<p>Arizona is actually not that bad about cost for out of state students from what I've heard from the out-of-state students who attend. I've also heard that Arizona is a lot better than ASU in acedemics. ASU is veiwed to be somewhat a "slacker school".</p>

<p>But alas, my sources may be biased because everyone I know attends Arizona.</p>

<p>The ASU honors college is generally better. Next year, brand new honors dorms will open (dining hall, gym, classrooms, courtyards, sport courts, etc) exclusively for honors students. Priority registration, small classes, etc.</p>

<p>The UofA honors college is less rigorous, and all my friends say it is not the community they expected it to be. </p>

<p>I go to Tucson every now and then, and it is nothing like Tempe. Tempe is amazing, always something going on, great for college students. Tucson is scary, and students really only stay on campus. Tempe is close to phoenix and scottsdale. The light rail station on the tempe campus just opened, connecting it to downtown Phoenix. Students ride for free. I love it. In my opinion, the ASU business school seems more connected to post-graduation career prospects because of its location. Internships are easier to have during the academic year there because of its close proximity to businesses in local cities. I am biased though. </p>

<p>ASU does have a slacker status, but if you choose the right people to be around and challenge yourself, you won't notice much.</p>

<p>I will be a political science major next year, and after a lot of research, I decided that Arizona is better for that major. The U of A is very solid in academics and ASU is readily referred to as a giant community college. The business program is slightly better at ASU, I have heard from parents and students. The honors colleges are very different, but both are good. At Barrett, you have to create "contracts" with professors, but you get to go to Human Event classes. Honors at U of A contains more classes that are only honors students. Tucson is a very cool city, but around both campuses there is a kind of ghetto. ASU is better with finaid, I got a lot more money from them.</p>

<p>UA is academically better than ASU at almost everything except the honors college.</p>
