UArk says they are test optional for anyone over a 3.2, but that an SAT/ACT must be submitted by Feb 2022 for class placement - cool.

My daughter took the ACT but it is below the 25 percentile for UArk, but she has a 3.7UW/3.95W. On the common app, UArk asks if you have TAKEN a test…not if you want to submit a test.

What’s the right answer. We’d rather not submit the test yet if not required, but is that an ethics violation to answer “No”?

It’s probably a good idea to reach out to admissions to get guidance on how to best answer this question. My D applied but it was via the Arkansas application and not common app - I don’t recall if this was worded the same but thinking it just asked if she would be submitting a test score. My D did not test and is test optional and is also required to submit a test score by May 1, for placement purposes - note it can be SAT/ACT/Accuplacer - seems like many (most?) who don’t take the SAT/ACT go with the Accuplacer test. On the admissions page it indicates that the deadline to submit the SAT/ACT is Feb 1 to be considered for merit scholarships. I’ve heard that a pretty high test score (34??) is needed for additional merit/fellowships. The NRTA award is generous and does not require a test score this year so you would qualify for that based on GPA if nonresident.

Anyways, if the plan is to submit the current ACT score for placement purposes only, you probably have until May 1. I’m sure admissions can share if a subscore meets the requirement for placement into desired class levels. Otherwise maybe explore this Accuplacer test which is what my daughter will take if she attends.

Awesome. Thank you.

So she selected that she had taken the ACT. Got the portal info this morning and there was a red X showing they were awaiting materials- the ACT score. I write to the admission counselor to ask about being test optional and she wrote back (immediately) stating my daughter is in fact test optional and they do not need her scores for admission…but will need them May

IN!
OOS. Test optional
