Arlington

I just got back from my trip to Washington, D.C. this weekend. Had a great time and saw some great sites. The most memorable event, though, was our visit to Arlington National Cemetary. We had to take one of those tour buses and didn't have much time to look around, but just the sight of it all was enough to strike a chord with anyone. As we watched the changing of the gaurd, an actual flight of F-16's flew overhead in the "Missing Man" formation (it was for a funeral in progress)! Anyone who hasn't been to this great American memorial should try to get out there soon.

PS- Glad to be back :)

envee- did you go to washington with the Close Up Foundation? just wondering- i went there in january with that organization.

meg

No, I went for a Junior State of America conference. We went a day early and got in all our sight seeing before the actual work began. Our Representative managed to get us some tickets to the White House, also, which was pretty cool.

I am sure that must have been an awesome (use literal deffinition) and emotional experience. Visiting Arlington is one thing i would love to do during my time, even if its not at a service academy. Just to respect the "true" heros of our world.
