Army health specialist (medic) before med school?

hey guys, i want to know if experience as a medic looks good to med schools? if all goes as planned i will graduate when im 19 or 20 from college with a bachelors in bio, hopefully with very little if any debt. and as you may know i want to be a doctor. but i really want to serve the army as enlisted before i do HPSP and become a captain so i can get more respect and honor my troops as well as be the best doctor i can to my patients. would you guys suggest skipping an enlistment period and just work and save money before i go to med school? or doing what i really want to do and become a medic?

FTA or would i be better going in as a lab tech (68k)?

If you want to be a physician, why not just go to medical school after you graduate?

@plumazul, i would like to experience enlistment and deployment to better serve my clients and get real life experience. and to be honest i want a little extra spending money while im in school lol.

I’m pretty sure HPSP selectees are paid during their school years. I have a good friend who is going to attend USUHS next term and she is being paid very nicely. You should check into it.

BTW, I just had a successful application cycle as a 19 year old ;

@plumazul just read up on HPSP and they do make pretty good money, 1500-2000$ a month as an allowance. Congratulations on that btw
