Army/Navy Game & Football Schedule...

OK here may be the silliest ? of them all...

Is the Army/Navy game played at Army one year & Navy the next or is it played at a neutral site every year???

Are Plebes allowed/required to go each year & if so do they pay their own way there & how do they get there if it is not at USMA field? Plane, train, bus, etc...

Are they allowed to stay w/ parents in hotel that weekend if we come?

Same question for the other Football Games Home & Away...

Can we see them at all on a Football weekend if we come out for a Game??? Army/Navy or Other Teams?

GO ARMY HOOAH!

I'll try to answer your questions:

For the recent history the A/N game has been held mostly in Philadelphia. Last year it was in Baltimore, but this year is moving back to Philly. It is played on the first Saturday in December.

All Cadets are required attend A/N (and all home) football games. Keeping in mind that things can change, plebes have been allowed to take a pass and stay with their parents A/N weekend. If they take a pass they are required to be responsible for their own transportation and lodging. There is a bus company that contracts with USMA, and provides transportation at a reasonable cost. There are also cadets who drive and share rides. Those cadets not taking pass (or ineligible) take the "boomerang buses" that leave USMA very early on Saturday morning, and return immediatley after the game.

For other away games cadets can apply for a pass. If it is granted they are responsible for thier own transportation and lodging. My plebe brought home 4 friends for the Georgia Tech game this year, and they all stayed at our home. Keep in mind that passes are very limited for plebes.

In general cadets are allowed to spend time with their parents after football games (both home and away). Tailgating is a favorite! They also usually have free time on Sundays. As mentioned, Plebes have limited passes, and stay in the barracks rather than with their parents for home games.

I think I hit all the answers, let me know if I missed any...

I don't exactly think that playing in Baltimore was neutral territory. ;)

Actually, Philadelphia does a great job welcoming everybody for the game. But I was extremely impressed with all that Baltimore had to offer. And the weather was sooooo much better.

I'll encourage all to attend if possible. It's a great experience.

THANK YOU ALL for responding to my thread! Do the Plebes have to "buy" for a pass? Does this mean they dont get as much time off for Christmas or something???

There are different kinds of passes. Usually plebes have 1 pass per semester, assuming they are in good standing. They can also "earn" aperformance pass by accomplishing certain things (varies by company). There are also spirit passes, for away athletic events that you have to sign up for, that are usuallly non-chargable. They never have to sacrifice leave days for a pass during the year.

even though I have a yuk, I am not an expeert but here goes.
LEAVE- Thanksgiving, Christmas and th e like everyone (unless they have diciplinary issues) can go.
PASSES- have to 'apply' and be granted. Plebes generally get one a 'general' (my term not usma) semester--often used at LAbor Day for example.
SPIRIT PASSES- games and such, my impression is they are fairly liberally dispenses, and arein addition to the one pass above.
ARMY/NAVY--as noted above, our cadet has ridden the bus friday, return sunday and stayed in hotel with us... for last two years .. bus is about $40 or so...
HOME ARMY games, we went to one , saw cadet friday night for a couple hours and had dinner --he had to be back in barracks at night...He sat with us at the football games some on saturday (had to be with company for start and end--this is similar to A/N but our cadet has always stayed with the corps for that whole game) (he had some other things during the day) and we had lunch on sunday...

AS they say here and on the email lists --things change and there are some changes this year, graduation change, not so many leave holidays etc...

Hope this isnt confusing

Can anyone tell me if members of the team are able to spend any time with their family on game weekends??
