so ive been accepted into 3 schools but im really thinking about saying F school and just goin to the army or something. what are your thoughts on this? but then again i really dont want to go to afganhistan or iraq, is their a way to get in and not go to war

Wow. You are not right for the military. Go to school.

Yeah go to college, always get your schooling done! If you want to serve, join the ROTC program – but ONLY if you want to graduate as a commissioned officer.

There’s no guarantees on whether you’ll get deployed or not, no matter what you do.

And why would you want to serve if you do not really want to SERVE?!

i mean who wants to serve? aside from getting deployed the military seems pretty cool

Do not join the military on a delusional whim.

Also-- I want to serve. West Point and Air Force Academy applicant for 2015 here. :D

■■■■■. cool story, brahhh.

With that kind of attitude man I wouldn’t join for sure. The Army is only for those who are seriously committed.

I can understand where you’re coming from (on the whole not wanting to serve thing). I do know people in the military that have non-deployable assignments right now, but they’ve also already been deployed before. If you join the Army, I WOULD NOT count on staying in the US even if they promise that to you. I know far too many people that have been stabbed in the back by the military to say that they’ll follow through on their word.

That said, if you truly want to serve your country and are ready to commit to that, I would recommend going to college and doing ROTC. You’ll be an officer in the Army, so you’ll be better off then. Once you’re done, you’ll have a degree so you’ll be better off after your service too.

If you’re serious about this, you’ll probably get better advice from the parents forum than you will here.

^ He’s right. DON’T join the Army just because you don’t feel like doing college right now. You’re going to deal with the consequences of the decision (either way) for the rest or your life

Whether you go into the army or not, College will lead you to whatever you do after the Army…plus you’re not right for it if you’re contemplating. Those who join know they want to do it and don’t ask people on the internet for help…LoL.
