<pre><code> Hey guys! My name is John and I am a part of the entering UMich Class of 2018! I can't wait to be a part of the wolverine family (I''m not from Michigan) and experience all the great things the school has to offer. I will be attending the LSA school for the first year and then will hopefully get into Ross for the remaining three. I was initially going to West Point, the army academy, but decided that I'd rather go to Michigan.
I was offered full scholarship for the ROTC program there and I wanted to get people's opinions about it. I really want to rush and pledge a business fraternity as well as be a part of the mentor MLC. If anyone has any information of a typical daily routine for a ROTC student I would love to hear some feedback. How intense is the program and will I be able to do all the other things I want to while participating? What types of things do cadets do during the year that are big time commitments? I like the idea of early morning PT so I can stay fit, lead, and get my butt out of bed early.
I would also like to hear from people who know of after service commitments with ROTC. People have told me about civilian service as well as actively going over seas, etc. Those who are graduating soon, what types of choices were you given in order to serve your required amount and beyond?
If anyone has any advice for me or personal insight it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
