Perhaps one of the AF cadets can keep us updated on the happenings this week. Heard yesterday from our Army Exchange cadet that the "festivities" began yesterday---all uniform items are missing from a fellow West Pointer's room.

HaHa - good luck to your cadet this week Shogun! I have noticed the Zoomies have quite a sense of humor!

We've been terrorizing our Air Force Exchange cadets as well. Uniforms are always first to go, then the pranks get more elaborate as the week goes on.

Out in north area right now is a particular zoomies full room, bedding, desk, computer, etc

Well, we heard from her today. As of this afternoon she was the only Army cadet in uniform (ACU's). The rest of her uniforms and apparently those of all of her compatriots are gone. She has been executing some "reprisals" :)

Regarding traditions and "festivities", do teachers and other Administrators accept it and go along with it? Or do they warn cadets that they should not participate in them?

One zoomie had his desk and bed moved out to Washington's statue. I was going to class yesterday and the Commandant and another officer walked by him. When the Comm saw the zoomie sitting at his desk doing homework, he started cracking up and walked over to talk to him.

It's a part of tradition and everyone, even the top brass, go along with it (so long as it doesn't get too out of hand or destructive). They're old grads so they understand it.

sorry for not being totally in tune with the colloquial language but what exactly is a zoomie? An academy exchange student from Air Force?

I think one of the best spirit pranks was when the Navy exchange students painted a jet at AFA to look like a Navy jet. Maybe somebody has the pictures?

shogun, I sure hope your cadet comes up with some interesting reprisals. ;)

Iam sworn to secrecy...........

Inhibitor---a "zoomie" is an Air Force Cadet. Interestingly enough, the Air Force Cadets don't seem to have a corresponding term for West Point Cadets. Or...??????

Huh, Woop....Woop....Woop
It's universal.

A list of slang terms can be found at this link (pg. 26-28):

The other info is interesting too, but note that the document is for the class of 2011, so some things may change for the class of 2012.

Evidently someone forgot to tell the zoomies what the slang was for a WP cadet. When she asked no one knew. :)

How'd somebody ever come up with Woop?

Woop = Woo-Poo-U

Ann - thanks, that link was dynamite.
