Hello everyone,
Are there transportation around the college that can take students to nearby cities?
What are the facilities available around campus?
Our D graduated from Kenyon. From what I can remember, there are some shuttle services to a nearby town with places like WalMart, restaurants, etc.
During our visit, the guide said a free shuttle runs at least a couple of times a week from campus to Mt. Vernon, which has a WalMart (“stocked with everything you need, from camos to Amish romance novels” - one of my favorites lines from a college tour).
Thank you!
How about life outside of campus? Are there job opportunities, volunteering places, or theaters?
There are a ton of on-campus employment opportunities, I don’t really know of anyone that worked elsewhere (other than during the summer). Lots of volunteering opportunities with local schools, political orgs, hospices, shelters, humane society etc.
You can get pretty much everything you need in Mount Vernon with free shuttles but if you want large department stores, students travel by car to Columbus. I didn’t have a car but a lot of my friends did so it was easy to go to Columbus whenever we wanted to.
