Arrests and Acceptance Decision

Does a conviction of a felony or misdemeanor require one to inform the school of such events? If this is the case does the event of a felony or misdemeanor effect acceptance decision? Is it a case by case thing or are there cut and dry rules for this sort of thing. Please help me out.

I'm not exactly sure about this one, however, there must definitely be some distinction between a misdemeanor and felony IF the school has to even find out about it. They ask for any past records on the common application but they also ask for your activities and awards- but don't expect you to follow up on those. You are most likely 18 and an independent person, I don't really see how it could make a difference unless you end up in jail which might make deferring or taking a leave of absence a little awkward. And yeah if you're 18 they won't ask to even speak to your parents let alone whatever school/employer you may have.

Since you are already accepted, the conviction should not affect your BU admission. I don't see the occassion for them to ask the question now. However, it will come up in many situations for the rest of your life, internship and job applications, possibly study abroad, volunteer work etc.

BU actually offers a program for people in prison, so even if you get chucked in jail, you can still get a degree.
