Arriving late...what about room key?

Anybody have a clue what returning students are supposed to do about picking up room keys if they're arriving after six pm? Which seems likely to be anybody coming from the west who isn't parking in a hotel the previous night.

The letter from Smith said the registration room at the tennis facility would be open for keys only from 3-6.

Call Rae-Anne Butera In Student Affairs, registration for returnees is tuesday and wednesday. And I believe (check it out though) there is a fine if you get there late w/o letting student affairs know! Good luck! :)

Thanks, Sara. I'll pass the name on to my D.

usually, if you get there after check-in, you can pick up your keys at the Public Safety office (it's under the arch to the left of Neilson Library). I'm a preorientation leader and I know that's what Rae-Anne told me to do when I get back.

Stacy, Do you know anything about check in for the first year students? We are arriving at Smith on Friday, one day early for official check-in, and H and I are staying at a B&B with only 1 bed. I asked Randy Shannon about it a while ago and he said it wouldn't be a problem, but I'm still worried about it.

I doubt it will be a problem. Last year, students who were doing a pre-orientation program mostly did central check in the day before the official beginning of orientation, since they had a day between the end of the pre-orientation programs and the start of orientation. You should be able to do it then as well.

1down, I don't know anything about firstyears who aren't doing preorientation, but I'd guess that if Randy Shannon said it was fine it will be fine. Just contact Rae-Anne or Randy (Randy does better with email, and that'll allow you to print out his response on the off chance that someone gives you trouble).
