Are there any other students that are disappointed about the Arroyo Vista housing change? I just can't believe they are making all incoming freshman stay in a room with 2 other people. 3 people in a room is very uncomfortable. Most students aren't even use to staying in a room with another person. Now they are being forced to stay with two complete strangers. I'm disappointed with UCI's housing office.

I'm sure the bad news really sucks, but, at UCLA, all freshmans live in triplets. No questions asked. Be glad! My friend is at orientation right now and is feeling draggy about the triplet.

The rooms at UCLA are probably bigger than the rooms at UCI. I guess I'm just going to have to deal with it though...

Actually...the rooms are pretty much standard doubles rooms changed into triples due to overtime crowding :P.

Yeah standard doubles....not triples

I've been in the rooms at Arroyo Vista. The rooms aren't that big. They are just a little bigger than the rooms in the resident halls. I picked Arroyo Vista because I thought I would have more space; little did I know that I would have less space than a double room if I would have stayed in the resident halls...

In my experience, doubles and triples are actually the same size, just triples are more crowded =P

And also, the way I look at it, better a triple than no room at all. I'm sure they would prefer to keep everything with doubles, but with the amount of incoming students, it's just not feasible.

hardfilover

I was disappointed too. I opened my letter and started yelling! I'll be fine as long as I get along with the 2 other people. "If your cool with me, I'll be cool with you."

wait, you guys got your housing assignments already? Thought they werent supposed to come till end of august..

My brother's first year at Davis, he got put in a room fit for two people, but had to live with two OTHER people. I think that as long as the people you're dorming with are easy to live with, the space issue isn't SO bad. When I saw his dorm, sure the desks & beds were a little cramped, but it was okay

My boyfriend lived with two of his HS friends in Mesa Court when he was a freshie. I visited the place a couple of times and yeah...It's pretty cramped. There was a bunk bed and one loft. Enough space to walk through the room, but not enough to really do much else.

I just hope I get the loft and not one of the bunks

iloveants we didn't get our housing assignments yet. We just got a letter informing us that all incoming freshman at Arroyo Vista would have to stay in triples...

at Berkeley every freshman gets a triple, if they're lucky. some dont get any housing at all. and the rooms in berkeley are tiny.

hey the more the merrier

i went to an AV housing tour yesterday after orientation and the guy leading the tour said that a triple room would have one bed thats raised and a desk would be under it. but the ceilings are pretty low so the person who gets that bed would have to watch out when waking up... too bad they arent doubles aymore cuz the room is actually pretty spacious.
