Arroyo Vista vs Mesa Court

Hey guys ! I'm an incoming freshman and I'm debating between arroyo vista and Mesa court. Av is so much Cheaper than mc and I heard the rooms are bigger. Also I don't have to get a meal plan if I don't want to. But everyone been telling me to dorm because for the "freshman year experience ", easier to make new friends and meet people etc. but it's really expensive :(
What dorm do you recommend and why ? Thanks !

If you are covered by financial aid, I’d do the dorm thing. It’s an experience, and good or bad, I think it’ll be worth it. For me, it was mixed, but I learned a lot. It is admittedly really easy to meet a lot people too in the dorms (coming from someone who has a hard time doing that). That’s not to say you can’t meet people in AV. It’s pretty social there too from what I’ve heard. The freshman experience myth is completely blown out of proportion. It’s not going to be like what you see on TV no matter where you chose to live. AV isn’t a bad choice. Dorm food sucks after about 3 weeks.

I would recommend Mesa for sure if you chose the dorms. The rooms are nicer and probably not as noisy. I lived in Middle Earth.

If i decide to dorm, ill probably be ending up paying 9k not including parking permit and miscellaneous things such as pledging and such. I have to pay for it myself so I would take to take out a lot of student loans. AV is half the price.

Good luck making that decision. I can’t tell you what’s best for you, but I will say that if I were in your position, I’d go with AV…personally. You’ll still be able to have fun, especially since you’re actually bringing a car.

Mesa because you will be around other freshman and you can live at AV for any of your other three years. You really do want that “freshman year experience” because you can never experience anything like that elsewhere and you can never get it back.
