Hi! I want to go to Cornell University to major in Architecture.

My course load for Junior Year is:

Art History AP
Human Geo AP
Comp Gov AP
Physics B AP
English 3 (lit) AP
Environmental Science AP
French 4 AP
PreCalc Honors

I got an email from my counselor saying that there were conflicts between my classes..
So apparently, I can't take Physics because it collides with another class. So I either have to take Physics C AP (which I cant since I don't know Calculus/I haven't taken Physics A either!).

Also I was thinking of taking AP Studio Art: Drawing, but my counselor said it collided with French 4. Do you think It's better to build a portfolio without the help from a class from school? I want to make a portfolio before senior year..

In my opinion, when it comes to architecture admission, an extraordinary portfolio is more important than a language class so I would go that way. And, creating content as part of your regular schedule will probably increase your output. Get going on it his summer too. Good luck!

I’m thinking of keeping language and just doing art classes outside of school… would that be fine?

In my opinion you seem like you have a TON going on. Portfolio is more important than a fourth year of language. If you do end up taking a class outside of school I hope it’s a good one.

If you had to pick one, take the studio drawing course (Cornell requires freehand drawing work so if you can knock that out of the park it’s great). Don’t attempt physics C without a very solid foundation in calculus
