Art Department at UVM

What is the art department like at UVM? I noticed they don't require you to submit a portfolio for studio art with your application, which irks me.

I want to study art and biology (anatomy & physiology), but a good art program is more important for me.

nah they dont require you to submit one, but as a art major, i can tell you the program is really underrated. There are a lot of good profs which is rly important for art classes and the arts (+anthro) have there own building. you can also probably do a biology minor, since you need a minor (CAS )

Hi Partyhippie, thanks for the reply… just visited today and kind of crept around the Williams art building.
The painting studio there might have given me a unrealistic impression, but I mostly saw abstract blocks of color “artsy-feely” pieces.
In your experience how is the foundations there? By foundations I mean practice and accuracy in technical skill, anatomy, figure drawing from life, etc.

Are your professors working artists? Do they have websites with their work up?

What has your experience with the art scene been like in Burlington?
