How is Michigan's School of Art&Design and School of Architecture?
Are they considered to be one of the good ones in the nation(in undergrad level)?
Just curious..;)

NO!
My art teacher emphatically detests the A&D program at umich (and i attend a HS in michigan). It is virtually nonexistent and has no proper majors; an admissions counselor from Umich came to our school (which is pretty renowned for its national winning artists) and she told us that the only major they want you to consider at Umich is: YOU. LAME. I also have a friend who is in the architecture program there and she also vehemently hates the program and says it is basically worthless. She regrets going there, actually.
If I were you...I'd look at a different school. Umich may be good in other areas but art&design is DEFINITELY NOT one of them!

Well, geez.

It's true that the Art & Design program was overhauled recently, and it's not for everyone. Instead of focusing in on one medium, students rotate through a curriculum that familiarizes them with numerous media and also exposes them to the "business" of art as well. As for its national stature, it's no RISD. I think people who come to Michigan for Art & Design are interested in being able to do art while still having the whole-college experience.

As for architecture, it is not a leading program nationally (as far as I've been told) but certainly respectable and it has numerous successful alumni. My spouse is a graduate, and while he is no longer working in the field he felt he had a pretty good experience.

U-M isn't tops in everything--it couldn't be. But I think all of its graduates get a solid education--and they appear to enjoy some benefit from being able to say they are Michigan graduates.
