I'm registering for 08-09 classes in a couple days, and I'm torn between these two classes. I need a fine arts credit, but I'm not sure if I should opt for the fun lay-off class (Photography) that would lower my GPA, or go for Art History.

i personally really enjoy photography, but that's my personal idea. I think it'd be better cuz you get to create something by yourself and enter achievement contests and such, not just look at a bunch art that dead guys have drawn.

Because AP classes are often weighted- taken out of 5.0 or 4.5 on a 4.0 scale.
So for someone who has taken a lot of AP/honors classes, taking a nonacademic class like photography would lower their weighted GPA and give them a disadvantage in class ranking.

ah, i see. At my school, AP class (notice it isn't plural, we only have 1) isn't weighted. I guess, forevermine, do what's your passion. AP ARt history looks good on a transcript, but photography (especially if you have won awards or submitted a portfolio) shows a more "colorful" version of you on the college app

I'm currently in AP Art History online.... and I must say that I find it a lot of reading (of course.... I'm a Freshman)... but I believe it would be a lot easier if I had a physical classroom.

I took the class on FLVS and, honestly, I would DIE if it was in a classroom. It's A LOT of work. Out of the 5 APs I'm taking, it was by far the hardest. It really shouldn't be called AP Art History, but AP Art Analysis. I mean I would take it over photography because it is an EXTREMELY interesting class, but I would not go into the class thinking it will be easy.
