So, in order to graduate, I need a full year of "fine arts". I decided to do the credit online this summer. The online class I want to take only has 1 semester, which is Art History, so I need one semester in something else, such as Music Theory. If I take the one semester of Art History, I probably take the AP Test. However, if I end up doing two semesters of Music Theory, I don't think I will take the AP Test since I am not interested in music. Is it better to take the AP test and only have one music theory semester (will it look bad stopping a class halfway through?) or does it look better to just take two semesters of Music Theory?
Thanks!

If you plan to take AP Music Theory, you need to have some background in music or you will find it very difficult. At least 3-4 years of playing an instrument. Assuming you are prepared enough to do well in the class and on the test, you’ll find it’s easier to use that AP credit if you are NOT a music major in college. Many schools will let you use it for a fine arts elective, but not to actually replace a required theory class for majors.

Thank you for replying! I don’t have any musical experience, so I just decided to take Art History and a semester of Music Theory.
