I'm interested in majoring in Art History and I've heard that their Art History, Criticism and Conservation major is good but is there anyone here who studies it or knows anything about it who can give some feedback? Thanks.

Don’t know if you’re only applying regionally (i.e. SoCal), but probably the strongest Art History program among the top LAC’s is at Williams College (Williams’ alums populate many of the top curator positions in the U.S., including MOMA).

Dad2 , do you recruit for Wiiliams at all the top LAC’s forums or is Pomona your favorite?

I actually champion all top LACs (SWAP, Midd, Carlton etc. etc.) given their exclusive focus on serious undergraduate education- the main advantages of universities lies in their graduate/professional programs, for which sLAC graduates are probably the best prepared. Just so happens Williams has a premier Art History program. Pomona is a wonderful school, and by reputation nobody who attends seems to have any regrets ;)

Dad2, perhaps you feel that you do champion all top LACs but I’ve noticed that Pomona usually comes out looking less favorable in your comparisons to its competitors, particularly Williams, Swarthmore and Amherst.

We all have our biases, but I view the differences between SWAP as being akin to those between Bach, Mozart and Beethoven.

Dad2, where did your children go to college?

How would you rank the top LAC’s in terms of Art History then? Especially if I want to double major with something like Business…

Most top LAC’s do not have “business” majors, but rather economics. Williams arguably has the preeminent art history department (but solid at SAP).
