Art History PhD Programs

Hi there,

I have been considering applying to art history doctorate programs and have been perusing stats and catalogues searching for those that seem to best fit what I am looking for. I was hoping those here may be able to offer some school suggestions.

I am looking for a program that is strong in modern and contemporary art (20th century and beyond, but particularly art from the sixties to present), as that will hopefully be my main focus of study. The size of the program does not necessarily concern me, as long as students get a lot of attention, and the funding is good. The real clincher is that I would prefer to be in the Northeast, and more specifically nearer to New England.

A few that I am considering:
-Brown Art History
-Cornell Art History
-Columbia Art History (I completed my undergrad studies at Barnard across the street, so this may be difficult)
-Rochester University Visual and Cultural Studies

Are there any others I should strongly consider? Does anyone here have experience with any of these programs or insight into what they are strong on and what they offer?
