Art History vs Philosophy

I'm having a huge time deciding which to major in. I have the most experience in Art History and love it, but I feel like Philosophy could be more fulfilling, but at the same time I don't know if its just a matter of me being in love with the idea of philosophy as a major without really knowing what it consists of.

The only reason I have a vs, is because I'm applying as a transfer for fall 09, and as such I would be entering my major upon entering junior level at whatever school I get in. Its not like I'll have time to decide once i'm at school.

The problem is, your experience with art history and philosophy at the community college level (I assume that's what we're talking about) is going to be A LOT different from the university level. So it's hard for you to judge. I would try to look at the syllabuses for some upper division courses in art history and philosophy at the universities you are targeting, check out some of those books from the library take a look. webcast.berkeley.edu has some philosophy courses online, 25B is the ancient greek philosophy course, take a listen to that.

actually a lot of my art history experience comes from my former institution. An art school. All my professors in art history have achieved phD levels.

Then it might be you are comparing your realistic idea about art history with your unrealistic idea of what philosophy is all about? I'm just suggesting you get a better sense of what you're in store for before making any decisions.

Frankly, my guess is that if you have an interest in art history you'd be better off with that, and you can dabble in philosophy on the side.
