Does any one have any information on the Art Institute of Boston program through Lesley University? I am trying to find a program for my son that has a design program and a college atmosphere. He has a 3.0 g.p.a and a good graphic design portfolio. Any help would be appreciated. Because his g.p.a. is low and I don't anticipate great test scores are choices are limited. Thanks in advance..

My son attended AIB at Lesley University and had a wonderful educational experience. He benefited the design classes at AIB that incorporated significant faculty interaction. Since AIB is a college within the larger Lesley University, he was able to take a significant number of outstanding Liberal Arts classes. Some of these classes were helpful in understanding the business aspects of communications

The locations in Boston and Cambridge were safe and it had so much to offer !

I would highly recommend the Art Institute of Boston.

Oh, how timely! I’ve been trying to get info on this program as well–we are scheduled to visit in August. What was your son’s major?

Why not go to MassArt? There’s a reduction for New England, and a larger one for in-state residents. That’s in Boston. Also, there is a cross-registration program with other Colleges of the Fenway. Not sure where it’s ranked, but I have a friend who really likes it, and I was looking into it. I’ve just heard bad things about the Art Institutes, but since it’s through another school, it’ll probably be fine. Anyway, Boston in general is a pretty awesome city for artists, so I’d recommend it.

MassArts reduction for instate and New England students is significant, making it more comparable in tuition to a state college. I believe MassArt is the only state funded art school in the US. The facilities are very good, as a student you would have access to a much wider range of study than at Leslie. My kid sat in on a sculpture class and was totally impressed by the instructor and class. I definitely think anyone looking at Boston area college art departments and/or schools should look at MassArt. Same interview/portfolio process as most art schools, just a few blocks from the Museum and SMFA.

Oh yes, a new dorm opening in one year I believe. Currently two dorms available.

We made a different choice but I heartily recommend this school both as affordable but also offering a quality art education.
