My daughter has been accepted at Oberlin, and she likes the place a lot, but she has real concerns about the school as a place to major in art. Can anybody tell us if the art program is any good? Anybody with first-hand experience would be especially helpful.

Someone who replied to my post on Hamilton vs. Oberlin said that Oberlin has the second best art museum among liberal arts colleges (second to Williams). And there's the art rental program!

I don't know anything else, sorry, I'm a potential Computer Science major.

Just to clarify, I'm particularly interested in the studio art program. I understand that the art history is pretty solid, but her interest is really on the studio side.

Thanks.

The studio art program is a good program (I have a few friends majoring/potentially majoring in it). However, the downside is since it's studio art, the classes are really small and sometimes it's hard to get into classes that you need. It's also one of those departments that sometimes gets neglected because it doesn't produce a lot of wealthy alumni...but for what it's worth I hear pretty good things about it.
