Art on Display

So I went to Davis today and I thought it was amazing! I was walking through the ARC right by the entrance to the gym area, and there was a lot of art of display. It was pretty horrid. This is a long shot, but does any one know if that was like middle schoolers or high schoolers that took art classes at davis. I hope thats not the art work that the art classes are producing.

you mean the pencil sketches? i believe the artists hailed from a myriad of different majors completely unrelated to the visual arts. they listed the majors beneath each piece.

yeah, that was my reaction too.

The thing is that if they aren't art majors, I wonder if they took art classes there. I heard its very very very difficult to get into art classes if you're not majoring in art (i've talked to 2 people about this). I thought it was a joke lol.

I've taken 1 art studio class and I'm not majoring in Art.. I'm a chemistry major. That class was fun, I wish I had time to take more art studio classes, but 6 hours of chem lab per week, and 6 hours of studio per week is just a little much for me. (BTW.. I think the only reason I got into that class as a freshman was because I had priority registration)

I visited yesterday too and I went on a tour of the Craft Center. Dude that place is awesome. I bet the pictures, yes I saw them too and they werent that great, came from those kids. But seriously the art center is awesome and if any of you decide to go to Davis I highly recommend that you take some classes there to take the edge off.

Pearlinthe mist, thats awesome that you got into an art class! I hope I'm as lucky. I'm hoping that showing a portfolio will help! Hmm..priority registration.
