Art program rankings

I'm trying to research schools for my junior d. She is looking to major in art (but not at an "ART School". )Most of the rankings I have found were comprised of Art Schools like Tyler and RISD.
I haven't had a lot of luck in finding information about various art programs.
We are looking for LARGE schools ( 15,000 +) with good art programs ( she likes ceramics/painting/drawing - not digital arts at all. )
She is a B+ student with SAT's in the 2000 RANGE.
Any info would be appreciated.

the combined program at Brown and RISD is arguably the best by far. i don't think anything else even compares

Brown-RISD Dual Degree Program

^^ not very realistic for a B+ student with SAT's in 2000 range. The combined program is a super reach for pretty much anyone.

"Thanks so much!!
This is exactly what I needed."

Is it? Do you think a professor at Cal State-Northridge, who last published his report (I believe) in 1997, refuses to disclose his methodology, and doesn't know the first thing about studio art, is providing you "exactly what you needed"?

Well maybe not "exactly" what I needed, LOL, but there is a lack of info about undergrad art programs so any info was highly appreciated. I still have not found as much info as we would liked to have had, so if you have a better source I would love to have it posted for others. This thread was started last year and my daughter has since had to make a choice, so she chose a school that fit her best as far as geography, town feel and support for the arts, program requirements, cost, and facilities to name a few. She will probably still go on to get an MFA , so she decided to go for a well-rounded undergrad experience first and a stronger art program from there.
It is a tough choice and maybe too soon to tell if it was the right choice, but she is happy so far.
My daughter never looked at any rankings so it didn't factor into her decision at all.

dcircle notes,"the combined program at Brown and RISD is arguably the best by far. i don't think anything else even compares"

Response: It really does depend on the artistic concentration. RISD is very good for certain things such as fine arts, illustration, graphic design, and glass and ceramics. However, if you were interested in other aspects of design such as Digital Design, they don't offer it as an undergrad. In addition, even their grad Digital Design is more "human -computer interaction" oriented and not as web or special effect oriented as other programs.

RISD also isn't that highly ranked or even well perceived in both Architecture and Industrial Design. Moreover, although I think painting is good at RISD, other schools might be more notworthy for various types of painting such as Atlier schools, SAIC, University of New Mexico, MICA etc.

Photography at RISD is also good, but is it better than that of SAIC, RIT or SVA?

Bottom line: I wouldn't make the categorical statement that dcircle has made or jump to the same conclusion. It really does vary by major which schools are best.

"RISD also isn't that highly ranked or even well perceived in both Architecture and Industrial Design."

I don't think this is true, especially not for Industrial Design, in which I know RISD has been ranked in the top 5. While it has not been on the DI lists recently, I thought it had been at least 5 and 7 before.

@taxguy: So what are some good schools for digital design (undergrad)? I’m in high school right now, and I’m thinking about going into digital design, but I also don’t want to go to an ART SCHOOL, persay, because I might want to dual-degree with either writing or tech. Got any suggestions?
