Can anyone give me any sort of detailed information about the art program at ECU. I'm specifically interested in the Metals and Jewelry department. I have looked around their website, but I want a more "insider's view." Thanks!

Oh, and on a different note, does anyone know how long it takes to get from Greenville NC to Greenville SC?

SilverandJade, I don't know any detailed info. about the art program except that it has a very good reputation. When I was at ECU (nursing major) my friends in the art school did some amazing work. My brother works at ECU and gave my sister a gorgeous piece of pottery for Christmas done by an ECU art faculty member. Maybe you should just get the dept. number off the website and give them a call. Will you be able to visit?

From Greenville SC to Greenville NC would take you about 6-6.5 hours or so depending on traffic. It is interstate driving for most of the way.

Thanks for the reply. I am planning to visit it, but I'm not to sure when I'll be able to fly down there. My dad wants to "make sure" that it's a "very strong possiblilty" before we go down to visit. Judging by what I've seen on the website, I think it's definitely worth it to go look.

Hope you are able to make the trip S&J. ECU has a pretty campus. Just curious...why the driving time between the 2 Greenvilles if you are in CT?

My half-sister currently lives in Greenville, SC (along with her mom, stepdad, and two younger siblings). This is also a reason that my dad is not too happy about me thinking of going there. When I asked, I was hoping that the driving time would be short enough that I could visit my sister if I wanted to (we are pretty close to each other) but still long enough that the proximity to his ex-wife wouldn't be a problem for my dad. Six hours is just fine. I'm still not sure exactly when I'll visit, but at this point I am definitely planning to, and I think my dad is getting used to the idea.

Check your mail :)

Do you mind me asking what other schools you are looking at??

JeepMOM -- sorry it took a while to respond. Thanks so much for the PM, it's good to hear of someone's experience there. Right now my list of schools has been narrowed down to five, and they're all kinda spread out. I still need to visit three of them, but I still have a few months. Here's my other schools:
Temple University
Rochester Institute of Technology
University of Indiana Urbana-Champaign
University of Oregon

And of course ECU. ^_^

I think you have some GREAT choices :) Do you mean U of Illinois Urbana-Champaign?? or is there a U of Indiana there also??

Ooops...yeah. I meant Illinois. University of Indiana Bloomington was on the list for a while, but it got knocked off. Better not let the people at UIUC see that. :)
