Art Programs at Brown?

<p>Hello- my daughter is a junior this year in High School and we are beginning our college search. She does very well academically and has strengths in math, science and visual and performing arts. She would like to apply to schools with both an excellent academic reputation and great visual/performing arts programs. We know Brown has an excellent academic program- what about its arts programs?</p>

<p>Brown’s visual arts program is excellent, and Brown students can take classes at RISD even if not part of the Brown-RISD program – which is extremely competitive to get into. You might want to PM the user franglish, whose daughter is a VA concentrator at Brown.</p>

<p>As fireandrain mentioned, my daughter is a VA concentrator at Brown. She loves the department and has been able to pursue her interests in many media. She has consistently felt that the VA department at Brown has plenty of interesting people and courses. When she applied and was accepted, the joint program had not yet begun, but it would have been interesting to her, had it been an option. It is extremely competitive, as you can imagine.
