I was just looking over the requirements of courses for UC schools and there's a year-long art class requirement? Is this rigid? At my school a compsci course was considered an "art class" so can this apply to UC schools? Pretty much FREAKING out right now.

For one type of UC eligibility (Statewide), yes, you need a year-long VPA (visual and performing arts) and no, your compsci course will not satisfy that requirement. See below for alternatives (AP, IB, SATll, college course):

There is another type pf eligibility, however. It is called Eligibility by Examination [Admission by exam | UC Admissions](http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/requirements/examination/index.html) . Applicants with the credentials to apply to top-tier schools often find that they meet this eligibility. Do the calculations to see if you do (my guess is, “yes”).

As to this question:
you will find that yes, UC admissions are quite rigid in terms of eligibility. It is good that you are looking into the details in advance. Good luck.

Well I guess that puts me out of the running because I’m already half way through first semester of senior year, and I can’t switch into an art class now.

wow.
thanks

Um, did you look at the bottom of my post…? Concerning Eligibility by Examination?
