Sorry, 3/22, but you got it!
@CAShirl thank you for your input. They are very helpful! We emailed our commitment tonight and will be planning to attend accepted student day. Yes anything u can think of will b helpful.
Just waitlisted at Parsons. Meh, didn’t really want to go there anyway haha.
I’m really not sure how valuable accepted student day is for Ringling especially if your student has already seen the campus and already decided to attend. It’s very informative --finances, layout of campus, meet some faculty, get answers to questions etc (plus just a nice time meeting other students). As a parent (if you haven’t visited) it’s a great way to experience what your student is signing up for.
But from the student’s view especially if you’ve done pre-college and experienced the campus, I don’t see the value. There will be a one week mandatory orientation for new students prior classes starting which serves the same purpose (but leaves parents out). Later on after classes start about half-way through first semester there will be a parent’s weekend with planned activities and you can see everything and catch up with your kid (this was very fun since you meet so many other parents from all over).
Anyone else get nominated for a MICA competitive scholarship? I already had a really nice scholarship from them, but now I’ve been nominated for the creative innovation scholarship which could award me 12k more!! If I do end up getting it I think I may choose it over Ringling…
@pastelrain My D is also waiting for competitive scholarship results from MICA. Their initial offer was more than Ringling’s, but we’re wondering how much of a gap will be left after all is revealed. Congratulations and good luck to you!
I am still waiting to hear from PRATT as well. I was told that I should receive an answer by the end of this week. Latest possible time!
For my D15 (admittedly 3 years ago) we waited almost till mid-April to get word on the competitive scholarships - in those days they included it in the entire FA package. D had gotten some merit with her admission packet but the FA packet also included the competitive portIon. It was definitely the last financial packet to arrive and get plugged into the spreadsheet so that she could make a final decision.
just got into PRATT!! decision letter just came out im so happy
Congrats! If you do not mind me asking, did they provide you with any merit-based scholarship information or is that possibly coming at a later date?
@LESS18 thanks! good luck to u!! no they said nothing, which i am very worrying about. because im an international applicant? idk… i expect that they send me a scholarship letter(which later comes with packet within few weeks)
Congrats @orcenurse !
@LESS18 My D was accepted to Pratt EA & we received merit $ info at that time. I was informed that financial aid packets go out via snail mail on Monday.
@NYart15 Congrats to your D!!
oh… im really hoping to receive. thanks to your reply!
RISD decisions delayed due to weather. :((
Yep…very painful wait.
Rejected to Pratt. A bit surprised but that’s alright, I don’t care much.
@pastelrain - I’m very surprised to hear that! Pratt admits to the major so perhaps it was uber-competitive this year. You are in good shape regardless. This isn’t very consoling but actually the art/design schools are getting very competitive overall. It’s not just RISD or CalARts anymore. That’s great news for art students everywhere!
@JBStillFlying Yeah, you’re right, that is a great thing!
Speaking of RISD…decisions are coming out today probably…hahaha if I got rejected from Pratt I’m not sure if I’m getting into RISD :-/
@pastelrain you just never know - but that would be one heckuva great “neener neener you suck” to Pratt LOL!!!
@JBStillFlying That just gave me a good laugh, hahaha. Maybe I’ll send a screenshot of the letter to Pratt! Lolol
