Does anyone have information about the Art School at Cornell? My daughter is interested in painting and illustration, but would like to double major in English. How might that look at Cornell? Would this require admission to two separate schools?
Any info would be very much appreciated.

I am in A&S as a bio major but also interested in double majoring in fine arts. I think we have a great art department here, especially considering that it's in the same college as the best architecture program in the country.

The "art school" at Cornell is the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning and has 3 majors, one of which is Fine Arts.
Cornell does allow students to get a BFA and also a BA or BS. However, I think you can only apply to one college when you apply to Cornell. It's probably a good idea to consider whether your daughter's primary strength is english or art. She should then apply to either AARP or A&S but indicate additional interests in the application (perhaps short essays?)
For example, your daughter applies to A&S as an english major and gets in. She then enrolls, and takes a couple art classes (outside of A&S). In the beginning of her sophmore year, she can apply to the art department for a dual major.

That was very informative. So I gather that it's not difficult to enroll in art classes if you have matriculated in one of the other schools?

I was under the impression you can't double major between colleges?

Is it possible to major in an engineering discipline and something from CAS? or minor in CAS?
