You should take this question to the Visual Arts sub-forum inside the College Majors Forum. Click on “Discussion Home” in the upper-left of this screen and scroll down to find it. That is where the art school experts are to be found!

Wishing you all the best!

Define what your goals as a painter are, than visit and research programs to find an instructor who will match those goals. Often, these top art schools will make a worse painter than when you started. If you want to paint like the masters, find a school that does that. If you want to paint ****, find a school that does that.

Ringling produced some of the best american artists. I trained under Trella Kaczwera who attended Ringling. She was the first female combat artists in ( Vietnam ) and has dozens of Government commissioned works hanging in the SMithsonian and Pentagon. She has since retired, but I had her at a state school, Not a fancy pants art school.

Keep in mind that most art schools give lousy aid, so unless your family can pay, you may need to go to a CC or university that has a good art dept.
