Art Students: How is the "realistic art" teaching?

DD is just beginning her college exploration, and has an interest in both science and “realistic” art (think Michelangelo). This type of art is not always taught - many programs are more experimental in focus. Can anyone comment on the art program here, and whether a student like this would be excited working with the current faculty? (Bonus points for any specific professor recommendations!) Believe it or not, figure drawing, realistic portraits, etc are not a current focus at many schools - kind of out of fashion. Thanks so much!!!

I don’t know the department well, but I do know of friends who did self-protraits, drawing of live figures, real life stills, etc in their art classes. Here is a course listing and the name of a professor who always was mentioned as thorough, demanding, and a good teacher:

Thank you SO MUCH, smartalic34!!! We will definitely email him! She is very impressed with Wesleyan - what are you studying there?
