I have a few questions concerning how Stanford deals with the supplement:

The application is sent online, but the supplement is sent through mail, right? And it's sent to the music or art department , not necessarily the admissions office?

How do they handle recommendation letters? Does the teacher send it to them or give it to me and I send it along with the resume and cd. If so, should the recommendation letter be sealed or not?

Thanks for reading! Please provide feedback

The supplement is sent by mail with the appropriate mailing label directly to admissions with the cd, resume, and recommendation all together. I don’t think it matters if the rec is sealed. Yes the application is sent online and is usually due a few weeks after the supplement. The supplement is sent to the relevant department which then rates your work/packet/materials and forwards that rating to admissions for consideration with your entire application. Good luck.

“Though you will submit your Common Application and Stanford Supplement online, the Arts Supplement should be mailed in hard copy and in the same envelope to the Stanford Office of Undergraduate Admission.”

So should my CommApp and Supplement be sent in the same envelope as the art supplement?

When my son applied last fall (and eventually accepted SCEA) the only things he mailed hardcopy all in the same envelope AND with the appropriate Stanford mailing label were the arts supp, arts resume, art teacher rec and DVD. Everything else he did online.

But I agree the sentence you quote is confusing and you should call Admissions to clarify.
