The art supplement (which will be submitted via slide room) for the early decision school is due two days after the rest of the application (which is due November 15). The entire application is ready except my son wants to record one more piece, which he'll have to do on Saturday. Does anyone know if he'll be able to access the slideroom site after he's submitted the actual common application? My son doesn't want to contact admissions about this, but I don't want him to miss his chance to submit his music if he's wrong. Thanks so much.

He should contact the admissions office. Slideroom is set up with an automatic cutoff, and schools can quietly leave it open a couple extra days … but if they don’t, the ability to submit is gone.

I think it’s actually a good idea for him to call to ask. It’s possible the school is not aware that the cutoff date is prior to the ED date. He should never hesitate to contact the school with questions … I say this as a college administrator.

Sure, he can submit it later, much later, a year later. Heck, submit after he graduates from this college.

See the problem with asking total strangers about an important issue such as an application deadline. We don’t know what school this is, we don’t know its policies. Even if we knew of a school that permits a later submission, how are we to know that your child’s unknown school has the same rules?

Do you really want to trust the answers we would give you about a totally unknown situation???

It is time for son to learn how to put his big boy pants on and ask. This will be the first of many times in his life where he’ll need to do so.

mom2collegekids, I was not asking if he could submit the music supplement late, but I must have been unclear. The common app is due Saturday, the music supplement is due Monday. The question was technical: would the link to the music supplement disappear once he submitted the common app. He called admissions, and in fact the link won’t disappear. It’s fine. He didn’t want to call admissions not because he scared but because he thought that it was a stupid question. But they were fine with it. I was just wondering if anyone else had ever had this technical issue before.

I also misunderstood. I thought the supplement was due before the Common App. Slideroom is completely separate from the CA. The school has to link the two in their own computer from two different vendor feeds, so they are definitely set up to receive them at different times and with different deadlines.
