Hey guys,
I am a beginner oil painter and I was wondering if I should submit an art supplement for elite schools even though I am not very good at painting.

Like my ppainings look OK but schools like stanford said they want something beyond what the avergae high schooler can do. My paintings are definitely not there yet, I don't think. Should I still submit one? If so, how many?
Thanks

No. You should only submit if they are very good. Why would you bother to show adcoms something you are not very good at and is only a beginner? It’s too much information and information which wouldn’t help with your application.

Are you being very hard on yourself? Are you very experienced in oil painting?
I would ask someone you know who will be honest (not mom) maybe like an art teacher whether they think the pieces will be competitive enough for you to apply.

You could always show us. I don’t think anybody would laugh at you. It’s hard to tell if you are being modest or objective. Quality definitely matters.
