Is it OK to submit an art supplement even though all of the college art departments I am applying to (Syracuse, for example) do not require a recommendation from an instructor but just a portfolio? i would think that this extra boost would help and not harm my chances but i'm not sure.

I think an art supplement is definitely going to help you as long as it is of reasonable quality. The only times I’ve heard of colleges discouraging art supplements from applicants who only pursue art at an EC level were with the most selective schools in the country, namely schools like HYPS, in which case an art supplement of not extremely high quality would not help you much in the admissions process. Otherwise, most colleges seem to welcome supplements.

There’s an art major forum on CC where people talk about art supplements and so on in greater detail, if you want to check it out.

cool, thanks!

you’re welcome :].

I am going to send an art supplemental.I m thinking to send 10 drawings. It would be hurt if I draw paintings of famous artists?

Thank you:)
