Art Supplements (Have pictures)

I'm applying to:
Bard, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Grinnell, Harvard, Ithaca, Middlebury, Northwestern, Oberlin, UChicago, UPenn, Vanderbilt, Vassar, Wesleyan, and Yale.

Should send in any of these samples to any of the above colleges? I'm planning to major in film (or fine art). I want to show my passions and degree of seriousness to each school, but I fear the quality of these pieces may actually hinder my chances at getting into these colleges.

Will anyone take a look at these and advise me on whether to send them or not? (I realize the decision may be different for each school. For example, I probably shouldn't send these to Yale, but I might as well send it to, say, Ithaca.)

Also, sorry about the picture quality. I took them with my cellphone, but if I send them, they'd be better.

My other concern is: I only have a few of my works. I have nowhere close to like 20 samples.

I don’t see how they could harm your application! I like them, they’re very nicely done.
I was thinking about sending an art supplement, but I can mostly do only portraits (http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs43/i/2009/244/5/5/Trevor_Moore_by_alinutaceasadik.jpg</a> i took this from my dA account, cause I don’t have flickr) so I decided not to. if I could paint like you do, I’d definitely want to show them. Like I said, how can it hurt?

Can a flicker album be used as an Art Profolio? 'am not applying for fine art or any related majors, just an interest.

@alisyn,
Thanks. Well they could hurt because they could just annoy the colleges with extra mediocre stuff. Also, if the colleges don’t think they’re adequate, these paintings could work against my chances.

Why wouldn’t they be adequate? I don’t know. I guess you’ll have to play it safe, maybe just send them to schools you’re not that bonkers to go to. I know that Columbia says not to send any extra material, but most colleges encourage art supplements.

I think they are great. As previously mentioned though, some schools specifically request that they not receive any extra material that is not crucial. I believe they are amazing and I can’t imagine someone not wanting to see them, but I am a fellow artist and art-lover so it may not be everyone’s preference.

I had a related question, maybe someone could help me:

Is it inappropriate to send a school your artwork if you are not applying for a major that is art-related? Art is one of my main ECs, so I thought it might help me out. I know some schools want nothing extra, but for a school that doesn’t mind extra stuff, what do you all think?

actually it varies from school to school, for example NYU says on its official website that any supplementary materials from students applying for unrelated majors will be “discarded upon arrival” while Middlebury has its own portal for art supps which apparently means they welcome some supporting materials. generally, LACs are more tolerant to extra files than Us,but i think good ones wont hurt anywhere~someone I know who at last went to Brown said the ao was very impressed by her paintings.
I have a q on art supp too,for Slideroom users like Vassar, is it necessary to submit the photos on Slideroom plus submit the art supp on Common App?
