Art Supplements

Does anyone know if sending in an arts supplement could hurt an application?

Brown’s wording says “Portfolios should be a strong supplement to your application, be well conceived, and include a higher than average quality of high school level visual work.” I know Yale says that portfolios should only be submitted if they show exceptional skill. I’m guessing it would only hurt you if the portfolio was filled with iPhone photos and pieces that are just copies (and not well-done technically) of a recognizable image. I think as long as the portfolio is original and it’s visible there was thought put into it, it can’t hurt. I applied as an English/Visual art concentrator!

Thank you!
