Art Supplements

Hey guys, asking on behalf of a relative. Does NU accept art supplements (ie slides)? If so, how many will they take? i can't seem to find any info on the website.

The Dept. of Art Theory and Practice (within Weinberg Arts and Sciences) is a fairly small art dept. I read that there are only about 80 art majors at NU, but that ~1,000 students take classes in the art dept. I called the art dept to ask the same thing as my daughter is interested in applying too. The Art Theory and Practice Dept. does not want portfolios. They said that anyone who gets accepted to the university can major in art if they want to. That said, I also called the admissions office and asked if they'd accept an art portfolio as part of the general application. They said that it was fine to send one and, if so, it should be photographs. I don't think they are necessarily set up in the admissions office to view slides, etc. Photographs would be easiest for them to review.

i'm pretty sure i heard once they don't want anything that can't 'fit in an envelope' so yes, i think slides would be fine, just not... sculptures..

Lol....

True.. I sent them an art porfolio with photographs of my artworks with a covering letter as to what the art was as its an ancient form of art, hardly in practice anymore...

Actually I didnt.. :( The mail returned today, cos some of the contents were lost in the process of transaction.... :((
