939 1600s (single sitting) out of 1.4 myn tests taken last year, and that number was up about 50% from the year before. But if you look at the numbers who scored 800 math or verbal, there are about 10000 800s for math and 8500 for the verbal section, so only 5% of the test takers who got 800 on one section got 800 on both (1600) in a single sitting. So, as Xiggi says, add a third variable, and it would be reasonable to expect an even lower number of 2400s. The numbers seem pretty much in line for 300000 test takers, if anything, mildly surprisingly high.

Meanwhile, my daughter is still waiting for her scores from the March test. Yesterday, the College Board said "her scores have been processed but it may take up to 8 WEEKS for us to post them."

Carolyn- I think the college board should return your exam fee!

Bluebayou, I saw that too, but I think that was for the writing portion specifically, which, in fact, they didn't give me stats for. This is all new to us anyway, DH and I took the ACT in our day. That's just the info they gave me when I called.

Near as I can tell from just browsing the student board, many of the 2400s came from CC members. Not that they would LIE or anything! :)

Rascal,
I scored a 690 for cr...would that mean I am in 93rd percentile?

Kittie_rocks,

Sorry, I don't know. Those were just the scores they gave me for my son.

Carolyn, did the College Board explain the delay with your daughter's scores...or is that typical?>>

No explanation at all. There are other kids at her school who also haven't received them.

But, we're hoping that maybe daughter's scores will be in the next batch released tommorrow. If she has to wait 8 weeks, she'll already have taken another SAT and could actually take a third one in that time period. A refund or a free go at it would be nice. :)

Is it just me or is the hold music for the College Board annoying?

I had the same reaction. But maybe that's just because I am so annoyed at the delay anything would have bugged me while on hold.
