See the link below for article dated 9/23/08. Tom Reason, the associate director of admissions for UW says it is 'logistically impossible' at a university of Madison's size to check social networking sites, but "I'm not going to say never".

I would err on the side of caution when applying to UW, especially if you're involved with UW athletics/teams. We know somebody personally that was booted out after already having been accepted for admission and for the team. This was all due to the kid's facebook photos of various drinking scenes. Apparently the coaching staff or "somebody" there wasn't going to tolerate it. The student needless to say, was devastated. The parents? We won't even go there!!

Glad to hear of the athletics decision- hopefully this will become known to HS athletes everywhere and give them reason to comply with their sports codes, or at least not boast of their illegal activities. Noticed the law school attention- the most notorious student who later became a lawyer (NOT in Wisconsin) was one of the 1970 Sterling Hall bombers who was a fugitive for many years.
